With a background in commercial art, I enjoy the simple and delightful process of solar printing, otherwise known as cyanotype and photograms. It is an age-old process developed in the 1800s as a first means of photographic record, then blueprints, now dubbed alternative photography. Light-sensitive chemicals, the sun, and water produce the cyan blue color. I delight in using everyday objects to make images with varying themes. Flowers are a favorite, conveying the fragility, beauty, and variety of life. The focus of the work is the shadow, blueprint, silhouette, or form the object makes.
