Mary Hopkins

Inspired by living in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Mary enjoys painting watercolors and throwing pottery at her Chestnut Ridge Studio. She began her watercolor painting while living in China (2012-2016) with a set of watercolors about the size of an iPhone. With encouragement from friends and family, she has continued to expand both her palette and subject matter, with a strong preference for fish, birds, landscapes, and other natural beauty.

Mary lives in Roseland, VA, and recently retired after a long career in Defense Systems, Fibers/ Apparel, and the Outdoor Industries, working worldwide with wonderful people at IBM, DuPont/ Invista, and with W.L. Gore & Associates. Mary is actively involved in the Nelson County Garden Club and Master Gardeners, the Good Reads & Deeds Book Club, and the Rockfish Presbyterian Church. She gathers additional inspiration while fishing, birding, rafting, traveling, and working in her large vegetable garden.
